Surrounded by the river Seine, the Island City is Paris heart. It became a shelter for the inhabitants against the barbarianinvasions (The Normands, The Vikings, The Huns etc..) In the year 406. Notre Dame Cathedral, the Holy Chapel, as well as the prison of the Conciergerie are the living remains of these troubled middle Ages time. However the main proof wouldbe the Conciergerie former capetian palace built by King Philip the Beautiful, it became a prison and a place of torture in the 14th century. People were help prisoners there for a short amount of time before being executed in the Place de Grève now Paris City Hall. Amongst those famous prisoners, the famous poisoner theMarquise of Brinvilliers, Robespierre and the most famous one, Queen Marie- Antoinette.

I liked a lot meeting the inhabitants and the small group which also allows to exchange our impressions between us. I also liked the small explanations in reference to the history of Paris, which I didn’t know.
